WLS-TV’s Broadcast IT Associate (ABC 7 Chicago), located in Chicago, IL, will be instrumental in supporting computer hardware and software for users across all departments, as well as in day-to-day operations in the facilities needed to deliver our product. to viewers on multiple platforms. Main responsibilities include:
Responsibilities:
-Monitor and promptly respond to incoming requests related to IT issues.
– Maintain user PCs including installation, upgrades and configuration as required.
– Help with the integration of new users.
-Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and license users.
– Perform diagnostic tests to help troubleshoot problems
-Installation of computer peripherals, such as video display terminals and USB hubs for end users
-Track, route and redirect problem information to appropriate resources
-Make reports on equipment to note malfunctions
-Resolve technical issues with local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and other systems
– User training on hardware and software
– Writing training manuals
-Follow up with customers to ensure their issues are resolved and provide feedback
-WLS-TV is a 24x7x365 broadcast facility as such, occasional non-regular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays may be required.
Basic qualifications
– Effective communication with members of the technology team and ability to communicate across the organization at all levels.
-Candidates should have strong knowledge and experience working with Active Directory, Apple, Linux and Microsoft desktop/server environments, TCP/IP and Cisco networking, firewalls, server virtualization (VMWare) and the SAN infrastructure.
-Extensive experience supporting a wide range of technologies such as mobile devices, laptops, desktops and enterprise class servers.
Preferred qualifications
-Highly organized and able to monitor and respond to high volumes of various forms of electronic communication
– Familiarity with packaging and deploying applications with Microsoft SCCM or similar tools.
Training required
This position requires a certification or associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience instead of study.
